Who's for some Tea?

Hi all,
Something simple today, but meaningful for me. As you may know if you have read my Profile, I am a great lover of a cup of tea. Or how we say it here in Australia, A Cuppa tea!
When it comes to a healthy diet my biggest downfall is cookies, cake and a wonderful relaxing cuppa tea.
I would say I drink between 4 and 6 cups of Lipton tea per day. The addiction started when we had family over from the Newquay, Cornwall. They were offering to put the kettle on regularly and when you are chatting, who can say no. It's just the done thing to talk over a nice hot beverage.

The funny thing is when it's evening time. We are all watching the television and I ask my daughter's who's turn is it to get me a cup of tea. There is always a squabble, no-one ever wants to get me one. I nornally end up with bribing someone. You know, "If you get me a cup of tea, I will rub your feet for 5 minutes" that sort of thing.

I am so in love with my waterpaints and have just started using Twinkling H2o's, which add the shimmer you can see in the pictures. They are stunning, give them a go.
Thanks for visiting, have a great day!
Hugs, Sonya

Seize the Day

Today I took a journal cue from http://artistsinblogland.blogspot.com.au/search/label/challenge  where a journal challenge is set monthly. The prompt for August is to Seize the day.
It is open to anyone's interpretation, so here is mine. I used some old artwork of mine for the face and a vintage picture for the clothing. Sometimes don't you feel like you need roller skates and octopus arms to get you through the day? Someday's just don't seem to have enough hours in them.
Just like this very minute when I am trying to get this post on line and am watching the clock with one eye because I have to to pick my daughter up from school within the minute, then its homework, dinner time, together time and bed!

Today's journal page

Hello this Sunday!
I have been a little inspired by the very popular Teesha Moore. I have always found it hard to find things to write on my art journal pages. Sometimes I just simply want to draw and paint a lovely picture and it has nothing to do with the way I am feeling.
It's not that I don't want to journal about deep down feelings, its just sometimes better for me to just play.
It also bothers me when I see journal pages with all these deep deep thoughts all over the page, but the art has nothing to do with it. But that's just me and everyone is different. I do however, love Teesha's way of lettering and her use of glossy magazines. Sometimes I just don't get the image that goes with the journaling but I'm sure it all makes sens to her. Maybe I'm a bit behind the ball LOL.

Which brings me to today's journal page.
I started this page off with two very cute dogs I found in a magazine. I am a big dog lover so they immediately appealed to me. I didn't have a plan for the page at this stage and just stuck them down on the pages.
Following Teesha's cue, I started looking for bits to add to the dogs- hence the eyes and hair on the smaller dog:) That's when it all spoke to me and I realised the page was about my teenage daughters and my relationship.
My daughters are very different from me, when I was a child and sometimes I have a hard time accepting that kids don't really play that much anymore and ipads and ipods and iphones have taken over from  playing outside all day.
Also my eldest who is 14, going on twenty, loves wearing makeup and spending hours on her hair, something that drives me insane some days. My journal page ended up reflecting this.

The page all came together easily when I realised the smaller pup was my daughters. It was so much fun making this page come alive and it gave me a chance to practice my journal lettering, which is something I really want to work on. Like always I had to have my own little hand drawn picture in there as well.
Feel free to read the smaller writing as well, if you wish. I'm sure there are a lot of other mothers who feel the exact same way.
Hugs, Sonya

More creations!

Morning!
I have had a busy last few days now that I am feeling better. I have been stuck in a whirl wind of paper dolls.
They are so much fun. I think the beauty of it to me is finding a head, and then a matching body and different limbs, its so much fun!

I have also been playing around with some new waterpaints I have recieved called Twinkling H2o's. They really are pretty and give a great twinkling glitterey fiinsh. In this journal entry, I used it on my ladies hair, wings and necklace. I have tried to capture the sparkle on camera. Its just so pretty, I really love these paints.

Isn't it so pretty!
